Lesson 1-2 The Second lesson - Improving understanding of A-Z by listening skills...
For this second Eigo Note lesson we began with a review of the alphabet and the alphabet song.
I've actually heard rumors from other assistants like me that some HRT’s had opted not to sing the song at all. I have to wonder why when the alphabet song is like the flagship of all English songs if not the most popular and known...
Lesson 1-3 The Third lesson - There are many Alphabetical letters around you! ...
As a post activity to the song, we did another alphabet pairing activity just to “keep the kids on their toes.”
There are maximum 40 kids in a Japanese elementary school classroom so that makes for 20 pairs, but there are 26 pairs in the pairing game, so it can get pretty competitive to make a second pair with those 12 (6x2) extra cards...

Lesson 2-1 The First lesson - Studying lower-case letters and numbers 1-100...
This next Eigo Note unit's theme relates to noticing different letters of the world, their similarities and differences.
It also works on studying English numbers from 1 to 100. Moreover, it reviews the small and big letters of the alphabet. (In the textbook, these Units as I call them are actually called Lessons, 1, 2, 3, and so on...
Lesson 2-2 The Second lesson - Studying numbers and listening quizes...
This next Eigo Note lesson still relates to the study of numbers 1 -100.
I wanted to start this lesson with a little review so after singing the number song twice we spent a few minutes on reviewing the numbers posted on the board last week. We did this by first going through the numbers 1-20 handout given last week...
Lesson 2-3 The Third lesson - Numbers, Upper and Lower Case Letters...
Lesson 2-4 The Fourth lesson - Build interest in the alphabet and writing...
Get the students interested in alphabet displays (signs) and transcribing (writing) them down.
As usual we started with our morning greeting and after reviewing the alphabet and numbers by ten's with the chanting songs on the CD we went directly into a review of the alphabet transcribing activity on page 14 in Book 2...

Lesson 3-1 The First lesson - Learning the 12 Months with Eigo Noto 英語ノート...
The kids were still quite hot since the weather will start getting warmer and warmer in Japan.
Also, the rainy season is coming soon but for now it is the swimming season in Japanese Elementary schools. Our Grade 6 classes had "pool" (swimming) today for their 1st and 2nd periods so that always leaves them tired...
Lesson 3-2 The Second lesson - Reviewing the Twelve Months and your Birthday...
Lesson 3-3 The Third lesson - Consolidating: How to say your birthday in English...
Today was very different from last week and 'pool' (swimming class) was not cancelled so we did our classes after pool.
The students seemed to be fine but were a little dull for the intro and review practice. Review was done on the 12 months and the ordinals only since it was a little hot and muggy ...
Lesson 3-4 The Fourth lesson - So really, when is your birthday? Can you say it?...
We got into the lesson after a short greeting and a little warm-up by singing the "Calendar Song." By this time the kids didn't seem to mind that we sang it accapela since they were already used to years of singing other songs accapela or karaoke style.
It's nice having a group of kids so flexible...
