So, the target expressions for this chapter include time, numbers, and daily routines. It seems an easy enough combination but when you really look at it more closely, it can be quite tough from a young English learner's point of view...

We've already done a few of the time lessons at our schools and have even done the numbers already in tens in the first part of the textbook but why not go ahead and give the kids a review just in case...

For the life of me I can't remember if we had done the chant in the first lesson or did we start from this lesson.

...the teacher's book does call for it to be done in the second lesson but I had it written in my notes for the first lesson. I think we had not yet done it since the first lesson was quite full of so much to do already. In the last lesson, leaving off from my last post, we had reviewed all the verbs from page 44 and 45...

We had mostly played it out just like it was written in the teachers book. It may sound a little lazy... but the main point of this lesson was for the kids' speaking skills. We had started out with the usual intro and chant, and quickly got into another round of reviewing the daily routine verbs...

But this time for the Activity on page 48, the spotlight was on the kids starting with the practice of asking questions...

I did mention I had something in store for the kids for their Showing and Telling activity on page 49.

The main goals of the lesson were to get the kids to speak as individuals in front of their peers in English... ...the kids would have to try and use as little Japanese... ...some kind of interaction between the members of each group just like an "interview game" but to stay within the confines of a "show and tell" theme and mix in a little "conversation" type qualities...

The first page has 4 pictures of four famous stories on page 50 and on page 51 in Book 2 there is a picture of a big turnip or a big daikon still in the ground, unpicked, and 4 or 5 other little daikons in the ground next to it with no characters at all.

(Nobody really threw me a bone on this one, you know, filled me in, or gave me a clue all the way up to this lesson.)

Now that I'm into the second lesson of Lesson 8 in Book 2 of the Eigo Note, I've come to feel a little more comfortable with this lesson than what I had previously felt... ...I thought to myself, "Maybe, it's not so bad after all and this just might work out."

(We only have 6 lessons left for the rest of the year!)...

Yes, I've come to feel a lot more comfortable with this lesson now that the kids had studied quite well in the last lesson and showed a very good attitude towards the lesson plan and the materials involved.

Feeling the flow of the first and second lesson get better and better, now I'm really thinking the lesson is very workable with a good set of kids...

I've been alotted to teach 3 lessons now for each remaining Lesson/Chapter so, that meant we had to make the most of it...including this last lesson for Lesson 8.

(Like the above says, we only had room for 6 lessons for Unit 8 and 9 in Textbook 2 at this school. So... this post will link to my lesson notes for Book 2 Lesson 8-3)

Finally a lesson about jobs and the like even though it is the last lesson chapter/unit in the textbook. Although we are still working with "I want to..." it makes sense to use the same target language with this type of lesson "I want to be" instead of:

A: "What do you do?" B: "I'm a ______." Here are my "experienced" lesson points:

This is the last Eigo Note lesson for Book 2 for me for the year.

Again we weren't sure what to expect but today's lessons went quite well with the kids. The main focus for today was the presentation and to see if the kids could acquire the target language:

"I want to be a ___." "Because I like..." "Because I want to ..." ...

I've only been alotted to teach 3 lessons for each remaining Lesson/Chapters so, that means Lesson 9-3 was the last lesson in Book 2.
