Of course, Julie is her usual charming rambling self...

Honnestly, this was probably my favourite part of the Olympics. I am so pleased she won a juno.

VANOC 2010 - Cultural Olympiad

It was a great time and we got to premiere it at the opening of the Cultural Olympiad which is the Olympics of Art(for those of you who don't know).

Quebec's Marie-Philip Poulin scored both goals in Team Canada's 2-0 win over the US in the gold medal hockey game of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Dakhká khwáan in "One Word", the Yukon Experience"

With additional choreography by Alejandro Ronceria, here is a powerful performance by Dakhká khwáan for Ceila McBride's "One Word: The Yukon Experience" performance at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.

First People’s Performances / Dakhká khwáan Dancers began as a dream to bring together a group of drummers, singers and dancers who share a deep passion to sing the songs of their ancestors, and live close
to the traditional teachings and ways of the Indigenous peoples of the Yukon Territory.

The group came into existence in 2007 and is based in Carcross, Yukon – a small northern community located fifty miles inland from the Alaskan coast. Performers come from the Carcross/Tagish First Nation, Teslin Tlingit Council, and the Kwanlin Dun First Nation; the common thread among the group is their Inland Tlingit Ancestry.

I used footage shot in the extreme north and extreme south of the Yukon Territory, including the mountains across the river form my studio, and aurora from the roof of our home. This is just north of Carcross where Dakhká khwáan are based. For the aurora above Mt Logan, I combined an image I shot on a ski tour in the St Elias with footage Allan Code shot of aurora for Government of Yukon.
